India is a divine country with traditions dating back to at least 2500 BCE. Not only that, but India also discovered the concept of zero, the number we all use today. As Mark Twain famously said, “India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grandmother of tradition.” While it would take thousands of articles to know everything about India, this article focuses on a hidden city that holds many secrets. This city is called Dwaraka. Read on to explore the facts about Dwaraka.

Dwaraka (also known as Krishna’s city), was founded by Dr. S.R. Rao and his team from the National Institute of Oceanography. They came around between 1983-1990. Dr. S.R. Rao and his team first led extensive excavations, rampart foundations, blocks made of stone, pillars, and irrigation systems, which confirmed the existence of an ancient port city. More items like anchors and pottery that may link to the city of Mahabharata’s city. What is the history of Mahabharata though?

The Mahabharata is an ancient Indian epic, traditionally attributed to the sage, Vyasa, who wrote about the monarchic struggle between the Pandavas, Kauravas, for the throne of Hastinapur, peak in the terrible war of Kurukshetra war, and is a foundational text in Hinduism exploring the topics of duty, ethics,  through detailed narratives, and philosophical discourses, like the Bhagavath Gita.
