Book Review – Harry Potter

Have you ever read one of those books which felt like a gem? Well, Harry Potter would be one of those  gems. J.K. Rowling uses her amazing writing skills to make the famous series Harry Potter. If you haven’t read Harry Potter, you might be wondering in the lines of, “What is Harry Potter?” Well, if you are thinking along those lines, read on to find out what Harry Potter is!

To those of you wondering, Harry Potter is a saga with 7 books, each more interesting than the previous one. Harry Potter is a fictional fantasy novel where Harry Potter’s parents get killed by the infamous criminal in their world, Voldemort, or as others like to say “He who must not be named.” Ruebeus  Hagrid comes in moments after the disaster to take baby Harry to live with his Muggle (Non Magical-Folk)  Aunt and Uncle. After living with them for 10, long, miserable, years, Harry gets his Hogwarts letter to go to the fascinating school of Hogwarts. This is where the actual story starts. And guess what? All of this happens in the first book itself. Read on to find out what happens next.

What I have told you can be considered as a personal view on Harry Potter. Let’s take a look at a critics ‘ standards of Harry Potter.  Some critics say that Harry Potter engages children and young adults which makes literature accessible and fun. Some critics even say that Harry Potter creates an immersive experience when you start reading it. Although some critics say that Harry Potter has Formulaic writing (e.g., a new villain each year) it still doesn’t mean that it isn’t good.  Other critics say that the series tackles mature themes like death, hatred, love, and sacrifice. 

As we’ve looked at a critic’s opinion on Harry Potter, let’s look at the stats. By now, the novel series has sold a whopping 600 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling book series in history. This book has a rating of approximately 4.5 stars. This is generally considered to be above average star ratings on books. This means that Harry Potter is an excellent book. 

Altogether, Harry Potter is an excellent book series even as it has some flaws, but not everything is perfect. Harry Potter would be an excellent choice if you wanted to move on to a bit more complex fantasy fiction. So, what are you waiting for? Hit the nearest bookstore/library and get that Harry Potter book series before someone else does.
