France has so many things to do, and so many people to meet, considering there are around 69.1 million people in this country! France is one of the most visited tourist countries in the world! There is so much history and landmarks. But… What are they?
One of the places that is amazing to visit is the Eiffel Tower. It was built in 1889 to act as a centerpiece for the World’s Fair, but what was meant to be temporary turned into one of the most recognized places in the world. The tower is in the middle of Paris, the largest and the capital city of France(there are also bakeries with yummy pastries!).
There’s another landmark that’s even older— and it’s Versailles! What is Versailles, you ask? Well, it was a castle built in 1624 for Louis XIII(13th). But, after the French Revolution, the royals were forced to move out, and the castle started to get ruined and uncared for. Since then, it has been restored and is a top tourist attraction.
If you’re more of a nature person, you should visit the lavender fields in the Provence. Located in southern France, these field are a sea of purple from late June to early August. When in those places, you could also visit a Lavender Museum, which are usually on lavender farms.
Lastly, if you want to be more of a daredevil, you could go skiing in the French Alps. These Alps border the Swiss and Italian Alps and are located in southeastern France. The highest mountain peak in Western Europe is actually Mont Blanc, which is 4,810m, or 15,780ft high, and is on the border of Italy. These were the places where the 1924, 1968, and 1992 Winter Olympics were held.
These aren’t the only places—there isn’t enough space to fit them all! But keep in mind, when planning where to go on your summer vacation, all these super places to visit in the beautiful country of France.
