A Trip to the Gas Station… and a Big Surprise!!

By Medha Sridhar

Have you gone to a gas station because gasoline level for your car was super low? But when you check the price for a gallon, you go absolutely bonkers? Well this article is literally about just that.

I recently found out that the Gasoline level in my mother’s car was actually ten miles. But when I went to the gas station, I found out that the price was almost 6.5 bucks! (premium) And just 2 months ago, it was 3.5! I went bananas. But we had no choice but to put in the Gasoline. Or my mom’s car wasn’t gonna work. So we put about four gallons but were still upset about the prices.

A little information on the levels and prices. (Chevron)

Leaded- $6.19

Unleaded-$6.49

Premium-$6.89

Next, you will be able to experience another person’s perspectives on the gas prices. Say hi to Sridhar Santhanam!

Q1. When was the last time you put Gasoline prices for your car?

A1. About 2 weeks ago.

Q2. Did you notice any changes in the price of Gasoline?

A2. Yeah. Very significantly! The prices were off the chart!

Q3. Which gas station did you go to?

A3. I went to Chevron.

Q4. Have you been to any other gas stations in the past month other than Chevron?

A4. Yes. Costco, EXXON, Arco, 76, and Rotten Robbie.

Q5. Were the prices of Gasoline the same as Chevron or different? If different, can you tell us what the prices were?

A5. Different. Most of them had about 50 cents less than the Chevron prices. (Check out the model above)

Q6. In an average month, how much has your total household spending on petrol increased?

A6. Maybe about 25%.

Q7.If prices continue to rise, what is the ‘breaking point’ that would force a major change in your habits?

A7. It’s already like that.

Q8. Are you considering using public transport more often, if available?

A8. Yes.

Q9. Final Question. Do you think the government should take action to lower Gasoline prices?

A9. Definitely.

This was a perspective that many people, mostly adults because kids can’t drive until they are 18, feel. Prices of Gasoline continue to rise and increase, and there is not a lot of things that people can do about it. Some people fill Gasoline frequently to avoid price changes.
